MANCHESTER, NH July 25, 2021 — Responding to an editorial critical of Mayor Joyce Craig in this morning’s New Hampshire Sunday News, Manchester Republican mayoral candidate Richard Girard issued the following statement on the reopening of the city’s schools this fall.
“With another $58 million on the way, the Manchester School District has already spent $47 million in state and federal funds on its response to COVID. There is no reason for schools not to reopen fully and normally in September. If, after spending $47 million they still need to spend more, then that should be the top priority for the $58 million on the way. Mayor Joyce Craig, who in the past has been against reopening until she was for it, ought to make clear her position on the full and complete reopening of school in September.”
