For Immediate Release
MANCHESTER, NH July 18, 2021 – The campaign of Manchester Republican mayoral candidate Richard Girard released the endorsement of former Ward 3 Alderman Tim Reiniger, today. Reiniger served three terms on the board from 1994-2000 and was instrumental in efforts to establish Intown Manchester, the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (a predecessor to Southern New Hampshire Neighborworks), and the civic center. Reiniger, the first Republican ever to win the alderman’s seat in the downtown ward, succeeded in passing the ordinance prohibiting the demolition of historic structures in the Millyard; saving the former Pandora Mill Building from the wrecking ball. Today, UNH-Manchester thrives at that location thanks to his vision and leadership.
In accepting the endorsement, Girard praised Reiniger’s vision. “When the history of this time is written, it should include Tim’s considerable contributions. He had a real vision of what the city could be and fought well to make it come into being. His quiet approach left him an unsung hero and his insights on issues allowed him to pick his spots very effectively. His support means a great deal given the work we did together and I am honored to have it.”
Former Downtown Alderman Tim Reiniger Endorsement of Rich Girard for Mayor of Manchester:
When I had the honor of serving three terms as downtown Alderman, I had the opportunity to work closely with Rich both in his role as mayoral assistant and as a fellow Alderman. Rich is passionate about economic freedom — he has an expert understanding of the city budget and how to control taxes. Rich is passionate about freedom of thought — he is direct and hard-hitting with friend and foe alike. And Rich is passionate about Manchester — he sees a future that builds on and honors the city’s rich commercial and immigrant heritage. I strongly endorse Rich Girard as the exact person Manchester needs as Mayor at this pivotal time.
