For Immediate Release
MANCHESTER, NH July 18, 2021 – The campaign for mayoral candidate Richard Girard released the endorsement of Ward 4 Alderman Jim Roy today. Roy, a Democrat, also serves on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and served several years on the city’s Planning Board.
In accepting the endorsement, Girard thanked Roy, saying: “Jim has fought tirelessly for transparency in a City Hall that seems eager to hide what’s going on. He is a consistent voice of reason and common sense in an environment that often lacks it. He looks for ways to solve problems and has been a forceful advocate for protecting neighborhoods by demanding that city departments do the jobs they’re paid to do. His knowledge of the city’s Zoning Ordinance, codes and economic development processes is impressive, too. For these reasons and more, I am proud to have his endorsement and honored by it. I’m looking forward to working with him to turn our city around.”
Statement of support from Aldeman Jim Roy (D-Ward 4)
I know Rich has the experience in the city to know what’s going on from Day One. As mayor, he will be able to right the ship. His experience as an alderman, school board member and mayor’s assistant make him qualified for the job. I’ve worked with Rich and I know he’ll listen to all points of view. Importantly, I know he will respect the processes the board has to provide transparency. This is why I’m endorsing him to be our next mayor.
